My Bookmarks story
Every avid book reader knows what a bookmark is to them, and what role it plays in their reading journey. Everyone likes to get back to their favorite part of the book or to re-read the best lines whenever they feel lonely. Few use highlighters and few use bookmarks and few sometimes fold the page at the top corner and I feel the pain they go through when they do it.
Is it okay to expect a bookmark every time you buy a book? Ask a book lover if he’d agree with you. As far as I am concerned, I used to buy books on e-commerce websites and I used to get one bookmark for every book I buy before but they slowly stopped sending it and started selling it and that was the painful part. I used to literally search for the bookmark in the package and left dejected when I didn't find one.
I somehow slowly started making bookmarks on my own with old book covers and sometimes cardboard. I wasn’t satisfied with the end product which I was making and I was searching ways to make bookmarks and finally stumbled upon another startup called “Padhega India” on Twitter.
I was circumspect at the start on how to order or whether can we trust them. I was looking for a book and they have it. I commented on their tweet and comes a swift reply, “We do have it Sir, and here is the link”. It was my first transaction and I gave it a go. Placed the order and in less than two days have the book in my hand, neatly packed, and guess what two beautiful bookmarks I was looking for a while.
I thought this was a one-time thing, they might stop sending it the next time and I placed two books the next time and got four bookmarks. Well, I thought these guys are a bit different from other booksellers online and that’s how my journey of book buying spree started and I never looked back since. Placed over 190 books till now and have a double number of bookmarks and my quest for the bookmarks ends.
You’d be thinking if this is a paid article or something. No, why would anyone pay someone to write on bookmarks? This is not my story alone, there are hundreds of them on Twitter and elsewhere who love to get bookmarks when they buy the book and this one online portal does it without asking!
These beautiful bookmarks are lifesavers! Every time I read a good book and on a tiring day when I want to leave a page behind to come back later and these wonderful quotes on the bookmarks make me feel so so good. These are some personal touches the team of PI does on a daily basis to make feel the reader feel good and special.
